Who Sank USS Arizona (BB-39)

USS Arizona (BB-39)

Among some of the battleships destroyed by Japanese army was a USS Arizona Pennsylvania-class battleship built for the United States Navy in the mid-1910s. Named in honor of the 48th state's recent admission into the union, the ship was the second and last of the Pennsylvania-class of "super-dreadnought" battleships. Although commissioned in 1916, the ship remained stateside during World War I. Shortly after the end of the war, Arizona was one of a number of American ships that briefly escorted President Woodrow Wilson to the Paris Peace Conference. The ship was sent to Turkey in 1919 at the beginning of the Greco-Turkish War to represent American interests for several months. Several years later, she was transferred to the Pacific Fleet and remained there for the rest of her career.

Aside from a comprehensive modernization in 1929–1931, Arizona was regularly used for training exercises between the wars, including the annual Fleet Problems (training exercises). When an earthquake struck Long Beach, California, on 10 March 1933, Arizona's crew provided aid to the survivors. In July 1934, the ship was featured in a James Cagney film, Here Comes the Navy, about the romantic troubles of a sailor. In April 1940, she and the rest of the Pacific Fleet were transferred from California to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, as a deterrent to Japanese imperialism.

USS Arizona Burning After Japanese Attack

Arizona was attacked by torpedo bombers during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941. After one of their bombs detonated in a magazine, she exploded violently and sank, with the loss of 1,177 officers and crewmen. Unlike many of the other ships sunk or damaged that day, Arizona was irreparably damaged by the force of the magazine explosion, though the Navy removed parts of the ship for reuse. The wreck still lies at the bottom of Pearl Harbor beneath the USS Arizona Memorial. Dedicated on 30 May 1962 to all those who died during the attack, the memorial straddles but does not touch the ship's hull.

USS Arizona Pearl-Harbor Memorial

The wreck of Arizona remains at Pearl Harbor to commemorate the men of her crew lost that December morning in 1941. On 7 March 1950, Admiral Arthur W. Radford, commander in chief of the Pacific Fleet at that time, instituted the raising of colors over her remains. Legislation during the administrations of presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower and John F. Kennedy resulted in the designation of the wreck as a national shrine in 1962. A memorial was built across the ship's sunken remains, including a shrine room listing the names of the lost crew members on a marble wall. The national memorial was administratively listed on the National Register of Historic Places on 15 October 1966. The ship herself was designated a National Historic Landmark on 5 May 1989. Upon their death, survivors of the attack may have their ashes placed within the ship, among their fallen comrades. Veterans who served aboard the ship at other times may have their ashes scattered in the water above the ship.

America’s Sin

Flag of the United State of America
Flag of the United State of America

Dear reader, if we say ‘America has sinned’, this has nothing to do with the wars she fought in Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, Korea etc like so many people may think. But when we say a nation sinned, it has a lot to do with the relationship between such nation and God.

If a nation, instead of fulfilling righteousness, decides to follow the part of unrighteousness, lawlessness, we can say such nation is destined to be punished by God no matter how great or powerful she is. Bringing the United State into the spot light, the US has dangerously failed to fully follow the laws of God in whom she claims she trusts! Just like it happened in the days of old nation of Israel, America has legalized sin and celebrating it and as a result has corrupted the rest of the world.

Righteousness exalts a nation! America founding father founded it on Godly laws and constitutions. But today, the act of lawlessness, poor or low reverence for the thing that concerns God or connected with godliness/righteousness in the States has reached a climax and has affected the United States in a massive way. In fact, it marked a major escalation of a violent attack on America. Nevertheless, it is an assault by an invisible force—a force that is very real, and deadly dangerous. Devil, the hater of God himself.

But how did it all began?
On July 1, 1987, President Ronald Reagan nominated a highly respected judge, Robert Bork, to become an associate justice on the U.S. Supreme Court. Within 45 minutes, Massachusetts Democrat Edward Kennedy took to the floor of the Senate and demonized him. “Robert Bork’s America,” he said, would produce back-alley abortions, segregation, and censorship and midnight police raids.
It was a shocking, bald-faced vilification of a man who was obviously qualified and greatly respected, even by many liberals. “There was not a line in that speech that was accurate,”
Bork said. Many people agreed—but the attack still worked. Senator Kennedy and others led the way for abortionists, evolutionists, feminists, civil-rights advocates and other liberals to band together and defame Judge Bork’s reputation in an enormous smear campaign. They even aired television ads denigrating him. They turned him into an absolute gargoyle, into a beast.

Why was Robert Bork so demonized?
Why was his nomination to the Supreme Court turned into a witch hunt, when it was obvious he was more than qualified? The reason was that the radical left feared him.
And for what reason?
Judge Bork was known for one thing more than anything else: believing in the Constitution. He was one of the most brilliant constitutional lawyers the land has produced! He was considered “a pioneer in constitutional thinking devoted to the text and original meaning of the Constitution,” as Reuters put it.
He was known as a constitutional “originalist” or “constructionist” who believed in judicial restraint. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia released a statement through the Federalist Society calling him one of the most influential legal scholars of the last 50 years. Bork was “one of our country’s fiercest and most articulate defenders of the Constitution as it is written.” said the society’s executive vice president.
That’s why they hated him!

Everyone thought that when a popular president nominated a brilliant, well-qualified man who passionately defends what the Constitution actually says, he would be easily confirmed—even by a majority Democrat Senate. But in 1987, radical liberals considered defending the Constitution a ‘very bad thing’! And they had the power to get their way. It still happens today.

The Senate defeated Judge Bork’s nomination 58-42, the largest margin ever.
Many people at the time recognized that this was a water-shed event in American politics. One law professor said it was “the decisive moment in politicizing the process of judicial selection” that “poisoned the atmosphere for judicial confirmations ever since.” In fact, it poisoned a lot more than that!

In 2005, Bork said what he thought made a good Supreme Court justice: “A willingness to apply the Constitution according to the principles that are actually in it, rather than what they call the ‘evolving’ or the ‘living’ Constitution, which simply means the judges begin to make it up.” The tide turned in a big way in 1987. Law started to get a lot weaker. And lawlessness started to get much, much stronger in the States including modern system of justifying sin.

This is a significant clue as to what happened in 1986 that made such impact on the state of our world.

If America can amend her ways, all will be well with the well blessed, glorious, super-power nation – America. Otherwise a huge punishment from God awaits her.

"We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving Grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us!" ~ Abraham Lincoln
